Technically, this is not true since I do pixel art, which is done as a callback to the time of pixel art console and arcade games. So there is an inherent nostalgia in that.

@epsi Halo 4 was deeply troubled. They needed a retcon of the story and the lore hard after that one, the actual game was great though imo. Halo 5 was a firm step in the wrong direction as far as lore and story and gameplay and everything goes. Halo Infinite was teased as a reboot to undo all that awful junk in 4 and 5, but it DIDN'T and it was the first chapter of a new series that was going to be released as downloads over the next 10 years (thats why it was called Infinite) but everyone HATED Halo Infinite so they cancelled it and the story was finished in novels Stupid ruined awfulNow they are making a really awful rereremake of Halo CE that ruins it and it's coming out on PlaystationThey should just kill the series off and reboot it in 10 years, but instead its corpse is going to be paraded around until the last fucking cent is extracted from it

@epsi I think theres room for Halo in the future, but not right now, and not with the awful dev studio they have doing it.I think it could be rebooted in 10 or 15 years with some really talented devs but what they are doing with it right now is just not it. The trailer for CE re-re-remastered is so so depressing.

One fandom I am intrigued about is Star Trek DS9, I remember watching quite a few episodes of it but I don't remember a ton of it from when I was a kid. But I've seen it referenced a lot lately, I should go back and watch that.

@epsi Basically imagine Halo CE but downgraded. No multiplayer, sprint in the campaign with the maps unchanged game simply not designed around it, unreal engine 5 extreme stutter and freezing, horrible graphicsAnd this is the one launching on playstation, so it will be many's introduction to the series. Introduced with what is going to end up being the worst game with the Halo name on it. lol. Hoping this is the one that gets them to finally stop releasing Halo games.

@rainbowpink I probably have more game nostalgia yeah, I'd really go back and play games I didn't play like 7 times. Chrono Trigger, FF8, FF9. I should play Chrono Trigger again actually. Some old shows like Samurai Jack I might re-watch.

@homebrew star wars was kinda big when I was a kid As a really youngun I remember seeing one in theatres (iirc they did a re-release in that time in the late 90s)

@epsi@akko.wtf oh that makes sense. I only saw the prequel trilogy in cinema, which were like ok. I don't remember classmates talking about it all the time lol (what "fandom" felt like to me then). lotr seemed way bigger in comparison. but I don't know if the original sw movies were ever released nationwide in china (nobody I know from my parents' generation has any level of familiarity with the franchise, so my guess is no)

@epsi i have not had great luck revisiting anime from my childhood (including american cartoons as well), but the video games…hell yeah i need to play kirby super star again and earthbound and ff8 and 9 and chrono trigger would be good again too now that it’s been a little while. talk about cozy… ​:nyawn:​
