       @JigmeDatse honestly just cooking up a shitty webUI for VyOS and slapping it on some noname 4 port SBCs or SFF boxes would probably sell pretty well, but of course that hardware ain't gonna be manufactured in the US lol

       @michaelgraaf i suppose on how you define a gap. i'm not aware of anything that's extremely user friendly, but running a virtualised router (vyos, pfsense, openwrt, probably even routeros, etc) on a desktop/laptop machine is fairly straightforward. the router VM has at least two virtual switches; one bridged to the physical interface (eth or wireless both work fine) and another for exposing the routed network to the physical host itself. i did this for years on win10 w/ hyper-v to ensure that 100% of my machine's traffic was tunneled (i.e., to avoid traffic leaking from DNS or w/e happening to bypass a userland VPN). the overhead was fairly minimal, I could saturate 1gbps over ipsec without stressing the laptop much at all

       @michaelgraaf surprisingly, the laptop use case was actually really convenient - bridging wireless to the virtualised router's upstream vswitch just appeared as ethernet in the VM, but connecting to wireless networks on the host worked just like normal - click the network, enter the key (or w/e auth method) and then the bridge comes alive. pretty hard to have a leaky VPN when the host isn't even able to see the underlying connection
