       @stuxThe problem being you can't get data otherwise¹, so it becomes a catch 22.Now regular people would think that prevents self-driving cars from ever taking off.…“irregular” people on the other hand…1. If you'd strap regular cars the same set of sensors you will gather data and no revenue.

       @stux @dzwiedziu in UK all younger drivers are nudged to getting a spybox on their cars (GNSS receiver +LTE modem link, connected to CAN-BUS) by the insurance companies, without it their insurance is unaffordable for 1-2 years. This data is harvested by the insurers and used to set premiums for young drivers as a whole.I got my licence late in life, and got handed this "First Car" magazine aimed at teens when I passed my driving test (the examiner was a bit embarrassed but said he had to hand them to everyone who passed) and it was a mix of articles from YouTubers/rappers and adverts for these "black box" insurance policies..

       @stux No corporation will want to do it, because it would cost money and get no revenue.Maybe unless outsourced, but I wouldn't count on it, as testing “on production” is cheaper since Ford Pinto.(So I believe that this is the only true full self driving possible: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autorack?lang=en)
