META was found to have spent over $2 billion buying state legislatures to jam this through. At least one state admitted their age verification laws were written by a tech company.

They already have that for free in facebook.The only thing that makes sense is that they want to it to be easy to say "we're complying with laws, it's not our fault if the computer itself says this person is older than 16 and they aren't"

       @madcuzbad @sickburnbro some countries and states in the US are implementing laws that require operating systems to implement an age verification system for the user to be able to create a local account. Said requirement is a privacy nightmare and will involve shit like taking pictures of your face and showing them your ID, and will obviously be used for both data mining and censorship, but there are people even in the Linux world who are eager to implement this shit.I've heard rumors that there was a huge lobby from Meta to pass those laws. They will require said age verification not only for the OS, but for any social media platforms or application stores, and Meta is very interested in collecting this data.

       @GenesRus @madcuzbad @sickburnbro and they are doing all this shit in the guise of "protecting kids", because retards decided that parenting was too hard and it was better to give an ipad to their toddlers, and now they are crying for the government to implement age verification so their kids won't access content for adults, because apparently it's too hard to check what your kid is watching.So no one fights against this shit, because you don't want to be the guy fighting against the legislation that is there to protect kids.
