       @theleftistlawyer i always thought the main goal was to make the investor/landlord class richer by pushing property values up and if that happened to alienate "undesirables" so much the better. But the main motivation seemed to be profit

       @azonenberg @theleftistlawyer Boost homeowner property values, yes. Boost landlord/investor property values, no: most HOAs make it difficult to rent out your house (because renters bring down property values).

       @azonenberg @msbellows @theleftistlawyer when I was looking for homes HOA neighborhoods were significantly less expensive compared to similar housingMaybe that's only at middle-class price ranges and certain markets, but the times I've seriously looked for houses HOA neighborhoods were less expensive than non-HOA across the road and totally not worth the price reduction
