       @GroupNebula563 that's cool, in spain our current system is NNNN-LLL since 2000 (N=number, L=letter), but the one before that was XX-NNNN-L(L) (XX= letters corresponding to each spanish province, e.g. barcelona was B, sevilla was SE, etc.). whenever you see one of those you know that car has been through A LOT —and where is it from, of course

       @nosferatu@tech.lgbt @GroupNebula563@mastodon.social I do like our current system better - sure you can't know where that car had its license plate from, but you can pretend they're acronyms and make up what they mean! ... Or is this something only autistic people do...?Like, yesterday there was "MCH" and "DXR" in my neigbourhood - a quick glance and I thought "machinist" and "DirectX Raytracing" for each.Also if you're wondering, yes, 9999 DPS is a valid license plate.

       @celestia @minka @GroupNebula563 @nosferatu my brother sometimes looks at the plates to see the first letter of the LLL triplet, so he knows when the car it a new or old one. And I don't think he is autistic and even probably not neurodivergent (or not very) :bunBigThinking:
