       @lynnesbian I've voted (text :) ) because that's what I'd do for this example, but for e.g. ^^ or :D I'd not add a space. I feel that (text ^^) adds at least half the side of the face and is actually an enhancement, and (text :D) is just unambiguous and the parenthesis next to it is neutral. For me :)) has an intensified meaning and so it needs a separatorIs any of this just me? ^^

       @daarin unfortunately, if you don't add the space between the colon and close parens, it looks a bit like a cartoon pair of eyes poking out from a shrub (or it does to me, at least (:)
