       The problem with full invasion is the US just can't do it anymore, if it ever could have. Iran has always been at least as tough as Vietnam, and we lost that. Maybe if we'd invaded in 1946.

       @judgedread Trump is going to attempt it anyway. He’s mobilizing about 400K troops and he’s using the Pakistanis to take back Bagram air base from the Taliban, so he can attempt an invasion of Iran from the east, which is the only direction from which he would have a chance of surviving. It goes without saying that this is going to end the same way his attempted regime-change via decapitation strike did, but he’s past the point of no return and I think the average American is by now too morbidly-invested in watching this train wreck to its conclusion.

       @admin @judgedread If they send all those soldiers at Iran, doesn't that give Taiwan to china for free? I'd assume America can't fight in Iran and Taiwan at the same time.

       @Spooke @admin @judgedread What's interesting to me is that I've heard there's now pressure for the JSDF to go into Hormuz and assist there, which is a problem for Japan in a lot of ways, but on top of everything else it also means even less force within reach of Taiwan if/when shit pops off.Japan still can't really do anything until the Constitutional amendment happens, but pulling US and Japanese forces away at the same time seems... less than smart.

       @greyarea @Spooke @admin @judgedread Closer than they've ever managed to get it before. If the only thing standing between Article 9 and oblivion is a public vote, I honestly don't know which way it'd go. These days I think there's less enthusiasm for the so-called "peace Constitution" than there's been in the past, filthy commies notwithstanding.
