       @dangillmor Truman's promise of a "military industrial complex" could not be more proven. A certifiable imbecile has been place in the top executive position and yet the USA keeps chugging along doing what it has always done, extracting from its citizens, extorting its vassals, and enriching its oligarchs.I've just finished reading a history of the Knights Templar which by necessity is also a quick history of the Crusades. The rapacity, fanaticism and insularity of 12th century European royalty is well matched by the rapacity, fanaticism and insularity of 21st century US oligarchy.

       @dangillmor In a recent long chat with a MAGA relative something very disturbing became clear: His unwavering support for Mango Mussolini wasn’t only founded in shared animosity towards the same enemies, although that was certainly part of it. Another major factor was, reading between the lines, that “Now, finally, at long long last, someone just as dumb as I am has real power, and he’s willing to do exactly the things that are obvious to me as solutions for all the things I’m angry about and afraid of.  I finally feel represented and I’m never ever going to let go of that. Because I’ve never felt represented before and that’s a great feeling.”
