       @superball @lifewithtrees I remember that the point of shutting things down was to "flatten the curve", to avoid the Italian outcome where hospitals were overwhelmed and people died simply from not getting care at all.Flattening the curve was a reasonable and intelligent thing to do, and it was successful. Hospitals were never overwhelmed in the US, and never remotely close to being overwhelmed.And then I remember everyone, EVERYONE, from the President all the way down, completely forgetting about this goal and instead wanting to keep everything shut down forever.

       @echo @apropos @lifewithtrees @superball tbh the switch away from offices is godsend. Before 2020 it was hard to find a company willing to hire remotely, even though it would make total sense for them. These days, my employer has more people than their offices can fit.On the other hand, the forced vaccinations had profound effects on some people's psyches.
