       This thread is dedicated to the purging of remaining plastic from my kitchen and replacement with glass, metal, ceramic, and wood/cork, as much as possible. Here's so far all the shit I've removed from my kitchen over the past two days. This doesn't include at least 8 different plastic bags filled with seasonings and flours that I have now transferred to glass.

       Also going to move the ones in the left photo to being storage for other things around the house (these are separate from the containers in the previous post - I just had that much fucking plastic in my house). They won't be used for food anymore though!The photo on right is stuff that is yet to be removed from plastic. Stripping plastic out of the kitchen really is fucking Hell. I just don't want this shit around my food though. I'm sure I eat enough microplastics without the help of literally keeping plastic in my kitchen where I prepare and eat food.This isn't even it. There's also more noodles and flours in plastic and little bamboo boat plates... in a large plastic tupperware, and of course, a couple more plastic tubs that I typically use for storing spinache and berries...Jfc, how do I not already have cancer? Today I wanna focus on the great wins we've gotten, but first I have to complain in English that bol.com is such shit. It's gotten worse and I'm canceling my account, because they keep sending me drop shipped inaccurate items! I ordered a pack of 6 glass and bamboo storage pots and instead got ONE plastic and bamboo storage pot that wasn't even the correct dimensions that I ordered! They charged me €11 for a single shitty piece of plastic?!Instead, I went down to Action and bought these pretty glass jars. They both still have either rubber or silicon on them for the lid, but I use parchment paper or cupcake paper to protect the food from coming in contact with those, and that will have to do. The storage pots at Action are so fucking cheap and nice.        We also got rid of all of these, because they're also plastic and honestly a couple of them were at the end of their lives anyway. Look at the immersion blender container under the pepper grinder. It's got all these scratches, which means each time that happened, that microplastic ended up in whatever we were blending 😫

       One of the things I wanted to talk about was keeping silicone, rubber, and any other plastic from touching your food stuffs. You can of course use baking paper/parchment paper, but if you want to get fancy (and have to cut less/have less waste), you can use cupcake papers. If you can find the fancy tulip ones at a baking shop, pick those up and they work great as a wrapper around the part of the lid that will touch your food and inevitably absorb the smell of whatever is in the container. It'll also prevent your food from absorbing the smell of the plastic or rubber. Here's an example of the tulip cupcake wrappers and how I used them.

       The other thing I like to do is make sure that whatever I'm transferring to glass retains the label if possible and relevant, especially if the label is cute or has important instructions. I also try to keep the nutritional info and the barcode, so I can scan it if I'm dieting or want to know more about the product on the Open Food Facts app. Here's an example of some sushi rice where I took the label off and put it on the glass container.#kitchenorganization

       Another thing you can do, is if the labels are stickers on the original product packaging, you can just pull them off and stick them to your new glass jars. Here's an example of green and red lentils I got from albert heijn. In the future, I'll probably buy giant bags of these, but for the purposes of the getting the nice labels and nutritional info, I bought the small bags for the small jars that sit on my ease to access cooking shelf.#kitchenorganization

       Here's a couple of others that I think turned out nice. I liked the label on the vegan meat floss, and I am so proud that I remembered to keep the cooking instructions and nutritional info for the brown rice vermicelli.#kitchenorganization

       Here's a couple more close ups of additional organized shelves (backup seasoning shelf, and pasta/oil shelves). There's still a few things in plastic bags either because they haven't been opened yet and/or we don't have a glass jar for them yet.2/2

       Overall, we probably have another couple of weekends of work to add lighting to the cabinets, organize them, and then replace the last like 5 things that are still using plastic. But I've spent literal years working on this project, because it would be too much work and too expensive to do all at once. Getting rid of plastic from your life is really really hard, but worth it. Everything looks so much nicer in glass :3
