Why use it?It stops #google based arse-shattery like tracking urls, forced ads, data robbing, and nagware alerts / threats.How to use it?Beginner level:take a regular youtube url change the "youtube.com" to "yewtu.be"Intermediate:take a shortened youtube url and change the "youtu.be" part to "yewtu.be" and the "/" following the shortened url to "/watch?v="Advanced: grab the video code from any youtube or youtu.be URL and search for it on any of the instances listed here:https://redirect.invidious.io/What to do if the video doesn't load?try shift and reload, if that doesn't fix it click on the "Switch Invidious Instance" link and Invidious will reload the video in another instance for you.99% of times the first 2 steps will solve any issues, however you can run into some white screen errors due to the behind-the-scenes tech race going on, use the Advanced tip above.Music videos can be region locked - meaning you may need to instance hop to view the vid, see the instance list above which states the country the instance is in.More tips:Skipping backwards and forwards in Invidious using timestamps, or how to restart a video at the time where you paused it.You can also get timestamps from clicking on "Direct Link" in the share options as long as the video is still showing in your browser.Scripts in various languages that will take a text string formatted as hours:minutes:seconds and convert it to a timestamp you can append to a video url as described in the tip above.Invidious on the #fediverse :@invidious@social.tchncs.de
