@endDRM Agree, we need to change things on step at a time. Schools are harder to change as they tend to be very tied in to set curriculums which require specific resources and there are a limited number of 'approved' supplies they can use, so that cycle needs breaking too.

@rms Ai is being used along side cctv in shops. This can identify persistent shoplifting offenders as they enter shops, data is shared with other shops too, this frees up staff to deal more with customers. Shoplifting is a serious issue, we also have a cost of living crisis in the UK, so those costs to shops hit already tight profit margins, lower profits and this lowers investment in taking on new staff.The cctv can also recognize behaviour of people in stores in real time and pick up on specific behavior such as trying to hind items in clothing, bags and leaving without paying.So there are legit uses for cctv, I am not sure about the system you are refering to, but I think a lot of this is about pattern matching,Ideally this tech should be used in conjunction with early intetvention and providing help to people before they offend in any capacity in the first place.

@rms So long as Trump and republicans are in the Whitehouse I can't see this changing, all the rest of us can really do is post / boost about the climate and related issues, and back this up by including links to the science.Decentralised social media is ideal for this as users are the algorithms and as long as a we post evidence backed science, and make this an expectation then hopefully we can keep climate denial off here, or at least to a minimum.

@stux I am sure there are more countries that would like to see the abolishment of the USA.But yeah, would be good to see Billonairs (and now sadly Trillionaires) abolished, so their wealth can be distributed equally.

@Nonilex It is not simply about online hate, it is about online harm, there are various challenges doing the rounds, some of which can be dangerous, content promoting self harm, suicide etc. This is what some laws want social media companies to deal with.

@Nonilex On the other hand, does this mean that if US citizens are caught trying to take drugs (or other items) in to a country that imposes the death penalty for doing so, can be arrested and executed quickly without any sort of trial or due process.I am sure the US would protest most strongly about that.
