I don't regret using a lawn service for the first four years we've lived at our new house but ditching them and buying an electric lawnmower with rechargeable battery has lifted a huge burden. I don't have to worry about leaving the fence gate open or the downspouts up. We just do it and it's done.They also had this tendency to mow on a schedule regardless of whether the lawn needed it or not, which was problematic during the droughts over the past two years.

@cy Bad DNS? I've been able to download videos from my instance (when I archive my old stream) for a while and I haven't seen any issues with the DNS. Others have also had no issues viewing the stream, so I'm not sure it's the DNS if you're having problems.

@cy That host should not cause any problems since Linode is a relatively widely-used cloud hosting provider. My guess is that either your DNS provider isn't resolving that hostname correctly or that your local DNS cache is corrupted.As far as the streaming issues go, I'm guessing that it could be your internet provider. If you're using a VPN, try disabling that and see if that helps. I can download my own videos and other have reported video downloads and stream working fine.

I'm going to suggest this account for fediblock. The US election is bringing out the "fake" accounts and this one is no exception. It looks like a satire account but the vibe I'm getting from the server in general is that it's not "friendly". It definitely looks like an attempt at impersonation.at kamala at fuckgov.orgSo I'm erring on the side of caution and recommending a #fediblock. I'd like to make the following observation. Yesterday's Oval Office press briefing with Elon Musk was not a projection of strength. They are getting defensive. They know a lot of people are pissed at them and the walls are closing in. I'm saying this because right now I'm seeing a lot of doomerism permeate the online discourse. This is not all inevitable. Keep fighting because whatever we doing, is getting to them. And it shows.#USPolitics

I don't know if a recent update broke things on #PeerTube but it looks like my markdown for my support pop-up window isn't working.for any of my channels. I narrowed it down to the image not loading but it's only emerged as a problem in the past few weeks since I did check it a couple of months ago. Did PeerTube decide to no longer render image links in markdown anymore?

@existentialcomics Fun fact: Capitalism *did* try to develop a protocol on top of IP called OSI that was co-developed by a bunch of industry titans at the time. It was complex and bloated with a very proprietary tech stack.It never caught on because of an open protocol that was much simpler overtook it back in the early 80s called TCP.These days the only remnant from the OSI initiative in use today is the "OSI model" used to describe the tech stack for the internet in general.
