@purism The right to change providers... seems rough: while I *can* migrate my librem social account with mastodon's feature, if I want to migrate my librem email address, I won't be able to.The issue is, of course, that I don't own the librem.one domain. If they had offered the feature, I would have preferred to use my own domain for my email (so I could move providers), but that's not something purism has offered yet.

It's been 3 months since my last login to facebook. Using a platform lends credibility to it. It struck me recently how much YouTube I consume. I think I should try to cut it off: there are other platforms (and some "youtubers" have mirrored content to other sites). Surely, I'll miss *some* things...

Today I learned that if a #PinePhone gets too hot, some of the pixels won't work, but will work fine after it cools off 😅

@martijnbraam @primalmotion a wayland frontend for links (graphical mode) would be great if someone wants a project.

What's a good open source #router that I can buy in the states? I already have an ethernet switch, so I just need basic 2 port WAN/LAN, maybe with wifi as well.

@agx and today keeps getting better! My #Librem5 arrived so I'm going to be playing with #phosh a lot more. Happy to support a healthy software-keyboard ecosystem!

@jameschip @liaizon Umm, like doing business with police is a different issue than scanning messages client-side, which is effectively a back door into all encrypted communication. I really fail to see "Discord > Matrix" in your hot take.(now there are other reasons to avoid Matrix, like their effective metadata monopoly, but all of those problems also affect Discord)

@craftyguy If you work for a company that makes proprietary software, and you want to release "Linux apps that run anywhere", please follow these steps:1. Choose a software license: https://writefreesoftware.org/learn/participate/choose-a-license/2. Release the source code

@cjr @linmob @purism It's JS "web"-apps, but they use blockchain stuff instead of a server for data-sharing between users. See also "Web 3"

@locness3 @linmob Yeah. Ideally this would be handled in alpine by adding some depends/provides virtual packages, but this type of thing is pretty common with some gnome software in sxmo.

@locness3 @linmob Oh but you're running a flatpak, so you have to install the presumed dependencies yourself.

@kyle @patrick I contribute to the projects that I package. I often recognize other distribution package maintainers (whose names I know through repology) contributing too ... often to 'minor'/point releases. The mentality is "this bug bugs me, I want it fixed before releasing to my [distro's] users", which may result in carrying a downstream patch which is quickly upstreamed, and sometimes encouraging upstream to release a point release with the fix.
