@louis I think both are truths. I just don't believe getting people on a single instance is the only solution for people who just want a twitter alternative. From user perspective, 100%: Hop on, be there, follow others. From an ideological perspective it would make more sense to distribute users. Why not rotate the standard recommended server? Or split m.s into several servers with a central base policy but decentral administration similar to subreddits? I believe there is a nuance.

@tante @jacob The more I use alternative clients that overcome the UX culprits of decentralisation, the more I believe solving these issues client-side might be the easy fix mid-term. Take apps like Mona or FediLab. I can navigate other instances and interact with posts and profiles seamlessly. It is easy to forget that these posts never touched my instance. As soon as I comment, the app knows what to tell my instance. No need for awkward URL copying. 1/2

I like how #Podcasting 2.0 specs make absolute sense as the next protocol for podcasts, based on open standards and stuff….. and all of a sudden hit you with cryptocurrency integration as a spec?? Like, why would you build an open standard and then mess it up with a pseudo-decentralized techno-anarchist scamware?Why not emphasize choice on how to monetize and leave rotting #crypto for good?
