@fool @eniko This is Mastodon. There is no algorithm “force feeding” you anything. You follow who you follow and mute/block who you don’t want to see. Get a grip on independent creators talking about their creations. This is good and healthy for a community.

NASA programmers: ”We distributed the program from the broken chip into different parts of Voyager and changed all the references to ensure that it all keeps working. We had one attempt at this.”Web developers: “How am I supposed to remember to label my buttons and style focus states?? It’s just too hard!”(Sorry, could not resist. 😂 I recognize the systematic problems around the education of web developers that are often trained to be one-trick ponies where the trick is a framework.)

       Happy 25 years of WCAG!On this day in 1999, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 were published. WCAG 2.2 is still one of the most important standards on the web, ensuring a base level of access for everyone.1.0 – May 5, 1999 https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG10/2.0 – Dec 11, 2008 https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20/2.1 – Jun 5, 2018 https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG21/2.2 – Oct 5, 2023 https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG22/#wcag #a11y #accessibility

Maybe having constant mass infections and hence constant virus mutations was not that brilliant of an idea after all? https://aus.social/@DenisCOVIDinfoguy/112375851220692242

If WCAG lets you do something to meet a Success Criterion (do the absolute minimum), that does not mean that it’s a recommended way to do it.

It’s easy to think that, because it’s called guidelines, but the SCs are not part of the Guidelines part but of the Guardrails part of the specification.https://yatil.net/blog/wcag-2-guidelines-and-guardrails

TIL There are other tablet operating systems. Funny enough my Android e-paper Tablet just runs a blown up phone for most apps. I wished they provided a better User Experience. https://social.network.europa.eu/@EU_Commission/112354825433629029

Considering I have 37 years of experience with allergies, I should realize to take my anti-histamines before 12:30? “What’s this weird tinkly feeling in my nose that makes me sneeze – must be nothing!”🤷‍♂️

About an hour and 15 minutes and then I will have 12 days of not being in the virtual Axess Lab office. It’s been quite a few months of a lot of work. I’m looking forward to do some things around the house and work on personal projects.

#Snooker final predictions/analysisKyren Wilson seems to be the obvious candidate to win it this year with a five frame lead. But this is far from over. Winning the session only by 5:4 instead of 6:3 by Jak Jones means that it’s still an uphill battle. The session could have been a game changer, but now it’s more keeping the status quo. (1/2)

The third session (8 frames) this afternoon is pivotal to how the match shakes out. A 5:3 win for JJ it’s 14:11, a 6:2 win and it’s 13:12. I think the latter result must be the goal for JJ if he wants to keep his chances, I trust that KW is able to win four out of ten in the evening, five out of ten is a magnitude more difficult. In any case, it’s poised to be an exciting match, especially if JJ can mount a comeback. (2/2)

@aral I agree. The hesitation from politics to ban clearly extremist parties pains me a lot. And we have been there in Germany. We have the safeguards, but they have to be implemented and used.

@soller @thestrangelet @lucasmz This might be shocking, but deprioritizing the needs of disabled users over mainstream features is the definition of ableism. This is not a breaking change in a minor version that is quickly fixed, it’s years of excluding people. It’s the result of a systematic ableist process in an ableist world, carried out by people with (probably, hopefully) unconscious biases of exclusion.@aral is right to call it out.

@aral It‘s probably financially not a good deal, for them, because it’s niche. I would happily pay a subscription or support an OS project to keep it on life support.

Just a Python Conference that manages that people mask. A courtesy that is impossible at accessibility conferences, at least that is what I hear. Plus outdoorsy venue. This is how to do it.#NBPy https://social.northbaypython.org/@NorthBayPython/114406374202528874

@aral @Codeberg I love that it’s 22 random developers (or devs that are on his payroll and would say anything that their boss wants them to say?), so the source is basically: Trust me, tech bro. It’s all so bizarre.
