One thing I’ve learned over time is that people will sacrifice any amount of privacy for convenience. If privacy focused alternatives are to gain any real traction with the public, they have to be as convenient as the massively invasive stuff.

I'm a firm believer in the idea that if we pay for something, there should be no advertising in it. Full stop. I get the idea of an "ad supported" service or device if it's free, but if we PAY for it that is not "Ad supported". Thats us paying for something, and then a company forcing ads on it after the fact. In my opinion, this should be illegal.

Next month, Google will force Chrome and all Chromium based browsers (Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera, etc) to Manifest V3, this will effectively cripple ad blocking on these browsers and for the most part leave only Firefox and Safari as viable alternatives as just about every other browser is a derivative of Chrome. If you rely on ad blocking, I suggest you prepare yourself to move to either Firefox or Safari. https://youtu.be/oQL9dVsEXT0

I honestly hate that Google has this much power. it's no secret that I do not like Google as a company, (largely because I hate ads, and that is what Google does), but more so because no one company should have the power to effectively wipe out ad blocking for the vast majority of people across the entire internet.

What would you do if you saw yourself in a photo, but it was from long before you were born? Right down to the scar on your lip from a fight you were in when you were 8, or the blemish on your left cheek. One thing I think a lot of people don't understand about macOS is that it's very trackpad centric. Windows and Linux are both primarily used on PC's where the traditional interface is a keyboard and mouse. But as far as devices running Apple's MacOS, the majority of machines sold have been laptops for many years now. So the standard input for Macs has become keyboard and trackpad. You can still navigate a Mac with keyboard and mouse, but you have to use keyboard commands to switch spaces, and / or the mouse to get to the "mission control" overview. where on the trackpad any of these are a swipe away.

Because of this, using a Mac with a keyboard and mouse can be more cumbersome, especially if you don't have a hot corner set up for Mission control, or are unfamiliar with the keyboard shortcuts to swap spaces. Set up for it though, navigating MacOS is about as easy as any other OS.

@Linux @chirpbirb To be fair, Windows 8 was one of the most hated OS's in Microsoft's history and that didn't cause a mass exodus of people from Windows. Windows 11 won't either. If there's one thing the vast majority of Windows users hate more than what Microsoft is doing to Windows, it's even considering using anything that isn't Windows.

@clive Or driving through the hills. We used to have an old dirt road near where I lived when I was a kid we called the "roller coaster road" because that's what it felt like going over it. Riding over that with a bunch of friends in the back of a truck was something too.

@Bwee It's nice to see someone else putting Discord out there for what it is.Also something this person didn't mention is that the CEO of Discord.inc is the same dude that ran OpenFeint, a company notorious for stealing and selling user data. Jason Citron.This is why I always tell people, if you're going to use Discord, treat it like everything you're saying you're yelling into a busy town square with a sign over your head that has your name on it.
