       @gamingonlinux Good job! Hopefully we start to see mastodon share links spread across the internet.

       @Raspberry_Pi @TobyRobertsPi I think it's a bad idea to position Raspberry Pi as connected to covert surveillance.

       @sa0bse @xerz For what it's worth, I've experienced corrupted btrfs filesystems 3 times, and every time it's been bad hardware/motherboard (sata/pci controller occasionally flipping specific bits during disc reads, a bios helpfully writing a backup copy of the bios over part of the filesystem, and a memory bit flip of an internal btrfs structure before that generation got written to disc).

       @Teri_Kanefield can this lawsuit save democracy? I think the lawsuit isn't even about democracy, it's about defaming a company. Maybe spreading misinformation without a party necessarily suffering harm should be an offence?

       @glynmoody what would a non-profit have to charge per article, to cover costs?

       @glynmoody I assumed there was some value in peer review which ideally ought to be paid for rather than done voluntarily. Am I right to assume less/no peer review takes place for papers that are only published on arxiv?

       @hn100 I wonder how Hofstadter feels about computers doing precise calculations far faster than humans. We're ok with computers holding many libraries worth of data in a small space. But is it an issue if chatgpt has a lot of knowledge in a small space?

       @hn100 games on steam also get review bombed but this is usually when the developer does something unpopular to an already released game, such as a patch that doesn't work very well, or introduces pay 2 win features

       @clive as many games move to a live service model, we may experience a dark ages blip in game history

       @badlogic good job, well done. I recall that there was a website in the UK that did supermarket price comparisons, but it was shut down via copyright law: the supermarkets licence product images from a third party so when the guy used the same images as the supermarkets to.illustrate the price comparisons, he was threatened by the product image company and forced to shut down.#copyright #competition #anticompetitive #supermarkets

       In #rust when you have a hashmap and want to insert or modify an entry, there's a pattern where you chain .and_modify().or_insert().If you are inserting a complicated new entry, you might want to define the new entry first in one place, and then insert it, but closure move rules interfere.Any way to define (a,b,c) once?let hashmap = HashMap::<Vec<(A, B,C)>>::default();let new_entry = (a, b, c);hashmap.entry(z).and_modify(|e| { e.push( new_entry ) }).or_insert(vec![new_entry]);
