@purism You have a Peertube account. Peertube is nicely integrated with Mastodon. There is at least one public script to simultaneously push video to youtube and Peertube.y u no use?

@purism Okay. Perhaps you might also post, as a hybrid solution for the nonce, invidious urls? e.g. https://invidio.us/watch?v=u9X53UGdvX8

@kline @fitheach Alas, I could, though not for paying a subscription. Perhaps the worst thing about the article is it being carried in the news section, though clearly an opinion column. I suppose a periodical which would do that can expect the epithet 'fake news', for that certainly is what the article deserves. As with anything online - if you feel angry and emotional after reading something, you need to stop and remember *that was the intent.* To manipulate you, not to inform.

@purism The thing I love about this is… *everything* uses this file open dialog in #Linux, and here you show it working even for software which have not been optimized for small screen/touch screen.Looking forward to the optimized programs, but less worried about using Linux #app community in the meantime with videos like this one.#Librem5

@lunduke Mmm, the lilliputian show was a bit #phail due to time limit. The #Fediverse has no such limitations. And a reply can be anything - a response podcast is an option. If Fediverse is the primary publishing platform, which is then bridged to Youtube and other corporate walled gardens, I think you could save some time/effort in publishing. And, within the fora, it would at least be more convenient for *me* - they all come in through whatever client I choose. It's all about me.

@alexa @a_breakin_glass @KitsuneAlicia @fdroidorg Since you asked for facts, will Karl Popper do? He described the Tolerance Paradox in 1945, which has been studied rather further since. tl;dr : an open society cannot tolerate strict intolerance.https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.59272https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.77661

@alexa No, they do not. That would be in violation of their policies if it took place on their service. But they do not moderate another instance if it allows it to happen on that instance. (A policy with which I disagree.)

@alexa Keeping in mind their legal venues are the states of Washington and California, those things are illegal in part or in whole.

@alexa You may have a different interpretation of the law than I or a court of law. Feel free to test your opinion, so long as you harm none.

@QOTONot a report, but interested in your opinion. Qoto appears to be being used by Gabvertisers. E.g. DavidBond@qoto.orgThey appear to be meatpuppets or similar mostly to advocate on behalf of, recruit, and increase SEO of Gab. Does this violate the Qoto policy against advertising?

I am extremely curious about people's experiences using @yunohost 's #email #server stack. I am not knowledgeable enough (nor maintenance-oriented enough) to figure it all out on my own. I just want a click-and-go mail server for a family domain name. <embarrassed shrug>#Linux

@purism I write. I write a lot.Blogs, papers, publications… using browsers, #Collabora, pads, #LibreOffice, #Joe, even #Geany. I dabble with code, mostly #Bash and #PHP to keep my boxen running. A lot of side communication happens: #Signal, #fediverse, #Wordpress, #IRC…I do research, reading, data processing, and too often trying to read horrid scans of microfilm of old documents in mid-French. Doc viewer, image viewer, they comfort me.But not as much as the keyboard on my Librem 13. ❤️

"What is up with this? I followed somebody but their toots are not showing up in my timeline!"Maybe you *requested* to follow them. In the #fediverse people can choose to approve their followers, and your request might not have been approved, may even have been rejected. It is a different world view here on #Mastodon compared with the bird site. How many followers is not a good metric here.

One of the more interesting things I have been noticing lately is #insularity. As a site grows in number of active users, they tend to interact *more* with other users who are not on the same instance. The largest instances with real people consistently drop to a bit below 30%.My working assumption (without specific evidence) is #social people explore by conversation, exposing themselves to new ideas, people. There are, of course, exceptions.

#AskFediverse: @yunohost has run into an important bug for #RPi0 and #RPi1 - apparently #Metronome builds are not #armv6 compatible. Can anyone offer some help/insight?https://github.com/YunoHost/issues/issues/1423#armhf #armel
