I did a little research on Kaczynski outside of the Netflix series. The series mentions that he participated in some psychological trials in the 60s. My outside research leads one to think that the "trials" may have been a part of the MKUltra business that was going on at that time.

@nigeldgreen HA! I had a large kitchen appliance torn apart from one end of the house to the other trying to figure out why it had quit working. The Mrs walks in, asks what is going on and then had the sheer and unmitigated audacity to ask if I had checked the breaker.Guess what it was...

So yesterday's oral surgery went well, I guess. The Dr removed a tooth and gutted me like a fish to remove a cyst. I hurt like heck today

been a while since I have played around in #ccmusic land. The only place I am familiar with for getting #ccmusic is jamendo. Where do you get yours?

@dick_turpin I haven't seen the video in question so this may be way off topic, but back when I was a fulltime cyclist a group called "Bikes not Bombs" was doing all sorts of good works in the underdeveloped world by sending them used bicycles. Or at least they said they were. I never verified....

@dick_turpin Evidently, the recipents of these used bikes boosted the economies of villages by starting freight hauling companies and taxi services all using bikes. There's was a neat story if it was true.

@dick_turpin which, interestingly, leads to the feelings of isolation that we all seem to suffer from these days.

@dick_turpin There is a crapton of thoughts in this one reply of yours and I am not sure how to intelligently reply. My knee jerk is to say "yeah, a faux-conspiracy like Facebook and Google taking over the world kind of conspiracy..." But there is a lot of deep stuff here, bud. I wasn't really counting on thinking too hard on this convo but I think I scared myself somewhere on the way

Something is fundamentally wrong with the very concept of asking a free person to choose someone to rule over them

My wife has lost a friend to COVID. She was 27.A man who is a second father to me has been in hospital with it for 3 weeks and will probably be in for 2 more.My brother-in-law,his wife, and son have it as a result of their daughter being stupid about it.When will we learn that this isn't a political issue but a public health one?Stay home if you feel poorly. Wear the mask people. It isn't a big deal. Wash up. We should be doing that anyway.Let's grow the heck up and get through this!

@Rokken I have never been one of the cool kids. There is nothing wrong with forums. Most of the people that I follow here on Mastodon I have been following for a bunch of years. We aren't really activists. Yeah sure, we do use FOSS and think about security blahblahblah but mostly we just hang out and are friends and friendly. I am too old and tired for much more than that. Just hanging out needs it's place online too.

An imam, a preacher, and a rabbit walk into a bar.The bartender asks the rabbit, "What'll you have?"The rabbit replies, "I have no idea. I'm only here because of autocorrect."

We live in the path of totality of today's annular #solareclipse, which means I can see it without leaving home. I view today as a rebirth, as a time to throw out the lives we don't want and as a renewal to become the people we wish to be. I know this sounds like spiritual mumbojumbo but I need the ceremony and sentimenatlity of it to get done what needs to be done. I wish you all well.

So I have cleaned out my feed reader of all the news/politics/philosophical feeds that we're on there and filled the empty space with every blog that I could easily find that people I follow on Mastodon. I even followed some blogs of people that I don't follow on Mastodon but show up in my timeline due to #hashtags that I follow. I'll give anyone a shot. If you have a personal blog, let me know. I'll give it a read

Finished my binge re-watch of the remake of Battlestar Galactica. I still think the first two seasons were some of the best TV #scifi ever made. Season 3 was good but still drones on for me. Season 4 was not as bad as I remembered it but the 3 part finale, especially the final episode, was just interminable. Almost makes me wish the Galactica had blown up in the mutiny.
