Around noontime on the #solstice I went out on the bridge that cuts across part of the courtyard to get a shot of the shadow across the ground. The bridge is visible in other shots with the #sundial tag.

Today is Ty's and my 3rd anniversary of our legal marriage, but we've been together longer. Our wedding was on the 33rd anniversary of us being together. 36 years, and sometimes it still feels like yesterday.

I am loving Subway Tooter. I fully get why most people don't like it. It has far too many options, presents way too much information, is not particularly attractive, and has a user interface that is probably best described as "clinical" (and certainly not "friendly"). But all of that is exactly what I was looking for. It isn't missing any feature or ability that I've noticed, although at times they can be difficult to find. 1/2

How did I become the DNS expert in both my family and my circle of friends? Seriously, most of these people know far more about everything on the web than I do, but when it touches on DNS they all turn to me.

On my commute this morning (in Florida) I passed a billboard stating New Jersey protects reproductive rights and urging us to visit for healthcare, or better yet, move there. I expect DeSantis to declare war on Phil Murphy any time today.

As I get older, already limited dexterity in my hands continue to decrease and the haptic feedback they send to my brain is much less than before. One symptom of this is that when I type I'm missing letters more frequently. Looking for keyboard recommendations. I'd like something where the keys have more travel distance than the chiclet boards. 1/2

The people across the backyard had 2 trees taken down by a less than competent service. Which means without my consent I've had several sections of my fence smashed down. They apparently don't know how to tie off and lower in a controlled drop. But on the bright side, the service is promising to pay for repairs, and the 2 huge dead tress that could have hit my house if they came down in a hurricane are now gone. Well, currently they are laying in my yard, but I assume they will be gone soon.

@CarlCravens Thanks for the reminder. I need to finish this. We got halfway through and then life interfered. We enjoyed what we'd seen so far.

So annoying when a book has multiple narrators and they don't pronounce character or location names the same way. In my current read there was one that was so different I didn't even realize it was the same character at first. Also, what does a "director"of an audiobook do? Most audiobooks credit a director now, and it seems like pronunciation consistency should be part of that person's job since I doubt the narrators are in the studio together.

@scully My husband uses a2hosting. I know nothing about them, but he seems to be happy. I know he used to be with someone else, but they got bought out by a company that was gathering a lot of them, and service dropped off, so he went to a2.Also, I think @CarlCravens works for a hosting company, but they may be more for larger accounts.

I ended up getting the Leopold FC9000RBT keyboard with Cherry Brown switches and have been using it for a couple weeks now. I absolutely love it. It has taken care of all of the issues I was having where I was not getting enough tactile feedback and missing letters. I was warned not to get one with 10 key attached so that I could make my mouse more central, but old habits die hard, and I really wanted everything in one unit. 1/-

@tek I love the ones my semi-retired husband gets. Every public profile of him says only [these systems] and 100% remote. NO TRAVEL!"Hi. I have a great opportunity for you in [system he didn't mention]. They'd want you on-site 4 days a week and it's in Des Moines."We live in Florida. And the pay is usually much less than he would accept even for a remote job in a preferred system.I'm sure it is a thankless profession, but we will continue to laugh at them.

@tek It is sad that you have to spell this out. I'm happy with my current instance. But if that changes, I'll be knocking on your (virtual) door.

My peers and I apparently got a new job title. Instead of "[Department name] Manager" each of us is now "Other Operations" in the HR system. The odds are running about 50/50 of this being a system error or something deliberate.

Many family members (over 10 of them) who haven't communicated with me in years are texting to make sure I'm ok. Yeah thanks. Maybe next time look at a map and see it will still be 10 hours or so before the strongest impacts I'll see get anywhere close to me. And you haven't talked to me in so long, what are you going to do from 1000+ miles away if I say no? Wait until it's over then ask if I made it through.

The power went out about an hour ago. There hasn't even been much action here so I'm not sure why, but our area tends to lose power a lot, even on nice chest days. The wind is picking up, and being in the dark with a storm outside is a primary activator of my anxiety, but so far there hasn't been anything really bad here.

I slept about 3 of the past 4 hours. but it is difficult with all the noise. I don't think it is as bad as it sounds inside the house. Sometimes skylights seem like a fantastic feature, but they are the worst when it is raining. I'm able to stream livecast of the news. They just said the band that is over me right now is the worst part of the storm currently. I can still hear some strong winds gusts, but much less than 4 hours ago. I hope that means the worst in the past.

It is a standing rule that the opening shifts for my command center must be on-site because reasons. But today there was planned construction in the office, so we are all working from home.Best of all, that means I won't wear shoes the entire day!!!
