I just wanna say I am blessed to have 600 mb/s down and up fiber connection with almost no jitter and a ping of 2ms.Rip those with old cable or no Starlink. My old house had 500kb/s down and 23kb/s up.

@stux No. But he does have responsibilities by running basically the entire project. So it's not about owing anything to anybody, but about the ability to run a project with the size of Mastodon. He also has to be able to take critical views and maybe doe something he doesn't like, because the majority wants it.You are right: there are more apps, and it's not about that for me. It's also his inability to admin his instances correctly and taking shady sponser deals against his OWN rules.

@stux you are wrong.His software is used by most of the fediverse. People rely on it. He has some form of responsibility to make sure it all goes smooth. He literally made Mastodon GmbH or something. That is a conpany (/organization) with actual responsibility.

@stux @Nivamarina indeed. But it is actually still better than Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok. Since their servers are centralized, thus one hack reveals the entire network. Here you have to hack multiple servers etc.

Thinking of leaving the Fediverse.Not because of the latest bullshit or anything, but because of the fact this protocol isn't really much more privacy friendly in my eyes. No way, at least here in Mastodon, to fully have a private account. No way to fully get rid of bots that scramble every piece of public (thus all toots) information.Also because I wanna get rid of social (ahem, dissocial) media for good.Just thinking. Not acting yet.
