@graf It's the usual no-bid contract due to national security matters circlejerk. Obviously it's not national security, but these donors would be out bid very easily if they had actual competition.IIRC they use Oracle for databases, GCP & AWS for data lakes, AD for auth (which is likely Azure AD), AWS for compute, and Windows + Office for the paperwork. The contract postings have these as requirements, I don't think details change that much from department to department.

@graf iPhone SE. Yeah laugh at me all you want, but there's no pre-installed crap like Samsung's, and actual software support for 4-6 years. That's only been a recent thing on the Pixels. As long as she isn't neligent in using it, the build quality is fairly good. The biggest plus was there isn't any learning to do that only applies to their specific phones, it's all just iOS.And the single home button is a good piece of UX design for old people.

@graf Mom's using my old OG SE. It works. She uses Insta & FB, obviously it'll be faster on newer phones, but it works. Only a couple of times in the past few months she's asked me why its slow and I just restarted it, worked fine.The biggest issue has been the small screen is hard for her to read, she finds my newer one to be better.

@sjw @verita84 Tor is weird, because the glowies legitimately use it to foster "democracy" around the world. Maybe hosting a relay wouldn't be prosecuted, but using Tor to browse the internet will be.
