@urusan Well, I guess you haven't been to Germany then :D Here it's basically the standard and tradition to have 3 meals: breakfast in the morning, lunch at noon (the biggest meal with warm food) and something I wouldn't call dinner in the evening, because it's usually cold food (bread typically). Though for family gatherings or with guests theres somtimes another meal in the afternoon simply called "Kaffee" (coffee) with cake and ... well ... coffee :D

@urusan Three times actually. First time: driving on fresh snow , car started to slip despite low speed (30kph, that about 18 mph) crashed into a tree. Extensive damage that basically totalled the car. I had a concussion and bruises.Second time: I stopped a yellow light turning red, the car behind me was already accellerating to still get over the crossing. Lots of damage to the trunk area, no injuries worth mentioning .1/2

@urusan there are bite zappers that do exactly that plus depending on the model they get exactly as hot as needed but not so hot to burn yourself.

@wolf480pl @LittleAlex to me this is a bit disturbing, as the bride decides that hitting the groom is an acceptable response. Nobody world light of it happened the other way around...

@tindall I dont think that atheism is boring. Atheism forces you to constantly question your assumptions and thus keeps you busy all the time. Atheism is HARD. Religions on the other hand always take the easy way out: they just make up stuff to explain unpleasant facts, no matter how inconsistent even with their own views.

@tindall Another thing is that religions always claim that they can explain everything. They cannot admit defeat. Atheists on the other hand more often than not have to admit that they don't know exactly how something works. They DO admit defeat. They know that they can't explain everything, but constantly strife to fill the gaps without just making up stuff.

@tindall I didn't say that religions are anti-science by and large, IMHO they often just ignore scientific explanations that run contrary to their beliefs. But experiencing something as "boring" is highly subjective, so I admit that for you atheism may be boring while for me all the religions are boring due to their inherent inconsistencies and tendency to make up stuff to aviod the hard work of finding an explanation that actually works within the experienced reality of all people.

@trwnh @dansup IMHO a field for alt text should be displayed right after the description field when creating a post.

@dansup Reason: this makes bookmarking links easier. And I generally prefer it that way.

@urusan I wouldn't wait, because there will always be $NextCoolThing around the corner. And you probably won't get much use out of $NewHotShitTechnology anyway, as it's usually something that's either so specific that you don't even find valid use cases for it or it's just such a minimal advance that you won't see a difference.
