@jerry Why switch it to Lemmy if you already have Lemmy on infosec.pub? Why not give Fedia.io users time to migrate to infosec.pub and step away. Take a breather from Kbin and let it mature. I don’t know all that you are doing, but I’d think keeping up with infosec.exchange Mastodon, infosec.pub Lemmy, and infosec.town Calckey is already super-human. Thank you for what you do.

@stevenroose @vpz @jerry But if converted to Lemmy, my understanding is that it would be the same effort for folks to switch to Lemmy on infosec.pub, & less effort for @jerry . All the work and cost to keep a domain name seems silly. Just my opinion of course.

@mttaggart Writing up how you rooted systems as documentation so that another technical person could recreate the thought process and techniques is also good practice in report writing. I agree that it helps one cement the concepts, but practicing writing is important in it's own right. Reports are the most common type of deliverable for penetration testing and other cybersecurity roles, and in my experience a serious weak point for many folks seeking these roles.

@foone I know it's a joke, but my daily driver keyboard is 34 keys, so 33%, and it has blank keycaps. It uses layers like Shift and Fn on many laptop keyboard, but instead each of the 4 thumb keys is like an Fn1 to Fn4. All of that to say my keyboard really is like remembering semi-circle forward punch with no printed labels to help. Queue 8-bit game music.

@mastodonmigration I like Mastodon but I repeatedly see posts about people trying it and feeling unwelcome here or put off the platform. For example a big user I follow @GottaLaff essentially left for Bluesky. I know the decentralized nature of picking a server is odd for many normie’s but I don’t think that’s a big issue. What can Mastodon do to be more attractive?

@Nonilex He called it perfectly because the DOJ is now a tool for retribution. All the norms, decorum, and "this is the way things are done" are out the window. It is another of the many ways we are seeing the weaknesses of our system exposed. The courts are very slow. The administration is moving very fast because the system has taught Trump through years of pandering to the privilege of wealth that he can for the most part delay them into eternity. And that was as a citizen. As the POTUS, with the DOJ on his side, it's worse.
