@mjg59 @pluralistic Basically, how did we learn that things are hackable, and why are we not doing the same to our kids?In my case, I was watching my dad fix my stuff, and it was enough to make me carry around screwdrivers at age 15-16. Well, it's arguably much harder to repair electronics nowadays, but we can also choose repairable things whenever we can.

If you have a platform that boosts angry content in order to promote engagement, you'll inevitably end up with calm users shying away from all the anger. So you'll eventually end up with a breeding ground for trolls creating posts with high interaction among themselves, and what I'd consider to be a larger amount of calm users being driven away and engaging less. I wonder if that doesn't even out, ending up in lower overall platform engagement in favour of a few highly engaging, but for a lower subset of users, posts.

@slomo and I did our first dive of the season last weekend and saw a lot of cute and interesting creatures.Got a new Olympus Tough TG-6 camera, still learning how it works. Had to edit especially the landscape pictures, because they were accidentally shot with the shallow water mode on, but I'm quite happy with how the macro pictures turned out, especially for a new camera. @tea I finally managed to combine cold tea with gong fu brewing. Normally it takes two gaiwan-fuls to fill my mug. This time I brewed it both times with a bit less water, then cooled it down a bit by using another mug (pour it from one mug into the other, rinse the now empty mug with tap water, repeat), and at the end I topped it up with ice cubes.Using this oolong: https://yunnansourcing.com/products/imperial-jin-guan-yin-aaa-grade-anxi-oolong-teaAs is the case for every cold tea, it tends to conceal a bit its more delicate flavours. However, this tea's aftertaste is thick and sweet with some milky flavours, so this is retained very well in the end result. The astringency is a bit more pronounced in the cold version, but it essentially goes from non-existent to very mild, so that's not a problem.Unfortunately I have to use a Mighty Mug when drinking next to the computer, in order to prevent spilling (I've had to change a laptop keyboard because of this), so you can't see the colour of the tea.
