       Just got on Mastodon. I think a decentralized service like this is very much needed, particularly in a society in which corporate policy has deeply influenced users' freedom to write. For those potentially interested in following, I'm a journalist, with a focus on South Asian ethnopolitical affairs. I write about aviation, urban development, feminism, leftism and a number of other things. I'd love recommendations of others to follow too!

       Sri Lanka has confirmed once again tonight that its racist, Sinhala Buddhist agenda takes precedence over the lives of Tamils by electing a genocidal war criminal to the highest office of the land. I'm frozen with shock and pain. As a journalist, I should be reporting with tenacity, but this is bothering me beyond words. And that's me, from the Tamil diaspora. I can't even imagine how those currently in Eelam must be feeling right now.

And the accusation doesn't even have a basis. @Deepsealioness, like intersectional feminists are, is against the privilege associated with men in society, and the tendencies, objectification and sexist gender roles that come with it. I hold the same view. We need to dismantle that privilege. Those who conflate the two are often those who don't realize the extent of their own misogyny.
