Look what I found in the bottom of a box that must have been moved unopened for the last five moves at least. This thing is a totally wild time capsule of where tech was heading right before the iPhone. This sucker doesn’t even have wireless. It’s designed to search the LAN for an iTunes media share and then you use a remote to navigate on the display. I’ve managed to lose the stand, the power adapter and the remote so it’s probably just trash at this point, but man it was cool when I got it.

@Gargron @zatnosk @jeroenpraat On our small instance (~100 active users), the local timeline is one of the most beloved features. Our users have been asking us to add the local-only posting option for a while now.

My two year old disabling the baby monitor in his room is praxis, but it’s also pretty annoying.

My partner saw him walking over to unplug it, she used the talk button to speak to him through the camera and said “don’t you dare unplug that.” He just looked the camera dead in the eye, smiled, and unplugged it.

@darius we’re still interested in migrating to hometown, but we’re corruently on vanilla mastodon 3.0.1. Should we wait for the next release of Hometown or just move onto the hometown-dev branch?

Thousands of years from now, alien archeologists will be digging through the remains of human civilization. "What do you think killed them off?" "It appears to have been a 'gender reveal announcement'."

@micahflee I think Mastodon has finally started to get big enough that there’s not really a singular answer to questions like this. Depends on what part of the fedi you’re on. On my instance, people generally CW all politics usually with something like “uspol” it “ukpol”. I generally don’t see people get mad about neutral or positive stuff going without a CW though.

@Red @will feminism aims to destroy patriarchy. The traditional definition of masculinity is tied to the patriarchy. So, feminism aims to destroy that view of masculinity, and replace it with a healthier more egalitarian gender dynamic. That said, in much the same way it’s not the job of men to tell women what womanhood means, it is similarly up to men to figure out what masculinity free of patriarchy looks like.

So I have a question for #lisp / #clojure folks. I find myself using the threading macros a lot (-> and ->>) in order to unwrap deeply nested function call stacks. Is this really common or am I doing something wrong? Should I be using let a lot more or something?

@andre I was going to vote for VSCode but despite a lot of hard work to make it fast and efficient it still feels like a bit of a resource hog so I keep going back to EMACS.
