@PopeASDF Yup, I don't think it's a lesson that will stick, it hasn't this far in life haha.

I was reading the Ars Technica article about subscription mice, and thinking how removed they must be from the long tail of their market - people like my wife.My wife _had_ a nice bluetooth wireless mouse that I supplied her, and she sent it back. "I want a mouse with a wire. I don't want batteries, I don't want recharging, I don't want pairing, please just give me one with a wire".I bought her a $9.99 OEM Logitech, the cheap style Dell packs in with their PC's, and she is happy as a clam.

@croyle I use one of these, with a backup in a drawer. I love how the receiver is as big as a hockey puck and/or another mouse. It also has to be within a few feet of the mouse. But I love the shape of this model; it has been my favourite for decades now.

@futurebird I also want it to come in yellow, emblazonned with the word "SPORT" and have some kind of rubber seal. That was such a cool design language in my opinion.

Is there an online equivalent to SiriusXM's 40's Junction? I'd shift my funding towards @somafm and whatever replaces 40's Junction if I could find it - Soma has my reggae love covered, it's just a curated 40's Junction replacement I need now.

@PopeASDF @kr1st @somafm 40's Junction is available in-app and on the radios too. My subscription is up soon, which means the price hike and hour long online chat threatening to cancel to get a better deal, and honestly, I'd rather support independent online radio now anyways.

@alrs Similar experience on a first gen Surface Go - installed Debian, and under light load the battery life is pretty great.

@alrs interesting. What commands did you use to limit CPU throttle-up?

@doskel Amazing how much jump are left in the legs when presented with a sweet downhill run after climbing, eh?I've broken 100 km/h cycling in the Rockies in Alberta. It's a trip (and a one-way trip, if you bail at that speed). Lots of fun, and makes an entire morning of slogging up a mountain pass well worth it.

Another photo everyone has their own version of, but here is mine.Quidi Vidi, St. John's #Newfoundland , as the blizzard rolls in. Honestly, the snow and wind just made it look better in my opinion.

@k8vsy Oh, you use both? For me, if I was using SFPs at home, I'd only use DAC, because I'd stress about the optics wearing out :) But that's my mental burden, it doesn't have to be everyone else's haha.Optical SFPs also introduce latency ;) That's an inside joke only I will get; I actually did work for a customer who could quantify the financial loss on the microseconds it took to go from digital to optical and back, so they were a purely DAC shop. It was wild.

@HopelessDemigod @kr1st @Geojoek for sure. Are the iCOM marine HF units locked to the marine bands, or could you use them on ham allocations as well?
