We had this very popular trail to ourselves on a Saturday, that just doesn't happen, so very lucky.The wildlife was out today- woodchucks, marmots, mice, mule deer, and SO many birds singing. It's like everyone was celebrating the tourism lull between summertime and fall colors.

outdoor domestic housecats are responsible for the extinction of 60+ species and directly threaten an additional 350 species. if you care about the planet, keep your cats inside unless they are contained/supervised. they are perhaps the most invasive species on earth, it's selfish to ignore the damage they do.

Evergreen reminder that incarcerated persons make up 30% of wildfire fighters in California. Felons are not allowed to be firefighters, for most of those folks they are risking their life just to have NO chance of employment in the field after they get out of prison.

I totally understand that reproductive healthcare is shit in the US BUT I think we are doing a huge disservice to pregnant people when we talk about America's high maternal mortality rate and we DON'T specify that the #1 cause of maternal mortality is homicide (most often by the baby's father)The next is suicide. Black pregnant people experience homicide at 4x the national average. Medical malpractice/neglect is absolutely an issue, but it's not the biggest piece of the pie.
