@isaacsu I used to run melb.social myself, then migrated to using masto.host, which reduces a lot of the burden. It also costs about what I’d pay for infrastructure anyway.That said, I run this instance (soykaf.org) using Pleroma and it’s been significantly easier to run that Mastodon was. I migrated a few years ago, so I’m not sure if Mastodon is easier to run now..

@whynothugo I've used Cloudflare tunnel in the past for stuff like this.It's not quite the same as Hamachi, but it does allow you to punch through your NAT, and your friends should just be able to connect directly.

Looks like Pleroma now supports account migration..I’m actually somewhat tempted to move back to my old Mastodon account @hugo. The first part of slowly deconstructing and paring down my Kubernetes cluster.Pleroma is probably the most-used thing that I run, followed by Miniflux, Peertube, ZNC, and a few other bits and bobs.It would be pretty easy to run/manage those on a single VPS with docker compose, certainly much less time consuming than Kubernetes :blobcatsweat:

I’d lose my post history, but I can archive that somewhere for reference. I’ve always assumed these posts would be ephemeral anyway.Followers should be migrated over, provided the host instance supports it..
