@ZachWeinersmith defined "active TV consumption", because when I see people sitting in front of the TV, they still seem pretty inactive to me.The most they do is push buttons on their remote, just they always did

@ZachWeinersmith I see what you meant.Yet to me, they look only more trackable and profitable, but the ECG still looks flat 😆

@rms I never understood why corporations can leverage on free speech:free speech is for people, and corporations aren't people.

@ZachWeinersmith But if you have resources and technologies to transform Mars into a Mini Earth: could we just use those resources and technologies to fix Earth?Think about what we could accomplish using the budget of pointless resource wasting things things like: fashion, luxury stuff, the militaryBut really: what's the point of a city on Mars? What kind of problem does it solve (besides Musk's ludicrous claims?)

@futurebird I'm not sure I understand, it sounds like a line from a cheap musical about someone spending their life waiting for a "breakthrough" and it never happens.Every time I got offered a job in NYC I turned it down for 2 main reasons:- the USA doesn't have a healthcare system- I'm not going to pay 4k/mo to live in a shower. It's a pretty roomy planet, plenty of options besides NYC

@futurebird NYC is hardly the center of the universe. If NYC feels like the center of your universe, may I suggest you expand your horizons? :)Considering how the expansion works the center of the universe should have plenty of space, so no reason to sacrifice decent living space.

@futurebird IMHO a huge part will be played by what happened during their journey. If he's fine with explaining to others the "billionaire" route is probably the one that might give them the better platform at the end, but what happened in between? Will becoming a billionaire make them slide deeply into capitalist indoctrination thus rendering a sociopath and thus forgetting why he set off to be one in the 1st place?

@rms The USA and the world needed a Sanders presidency. We would have had a very different eight years if he had been the Democratic candidate in 2016.
