@SarcasmKid Better put a *lot* of money in the collection plate. This may take awhile.

@kaniini @lanodan OK, I'll be more specific:https://buyvm.net/kvm-dedicated-server-slicesFranTech/BuyVM has always been incredibly stable for me. These KVM VM start at $3.50/month.

@kaniini @lanodan Nevertheless BuyVM (Las Vegas and Luxembourg) has always been reliable for me and fits into the desired budget. They are consistently rated as one of the best VM hosters. (And, yes, I realize that the bar is pretty low on that score.)

@roko Whatever happened to the Harrier Jump Jet? They got a lot of press (and taxpayer money) back in the day but you don't hear anything about them now. One of those projects that get quietly shelved after spending a fortune on them?

@ale The overhead on Ethernet would be too high. What you want is to put the packets on a serial line, with Xon/Xoff flow control. No more than 9600bps for optimum signal:noise.

@satanya I take it this is in a performance non-critical part of the game. Or I hope so anyway. sprintf, while convenient, is a real pig in resource usage. It drags in a lot of libraries for features you aren't actually using and does additional parsing of the format string for those same unused features.
