I have entered the anger/rage phase of grief over #Google's #layoffs. Fucking disgusting that a company with $14B in annual profit and $100B of cash in the bank "had to" lay off 12,000 staff.Why couldn't the top 100 exec earners take the pay cuts instead? No reason. Why couldn't they just eat the stock losses from the investors being unhappy about headcount? No reason.Peak fucking capitalism at work. Fucking disgusting.

To be clear this situation is not unique and I'm sure many/most of the other tech companies with recent layoffs are in the same/similar position. But Google is where I work, people I know, and I know enough to say absolutely definitively that they didn't have to do it. No way no how.

Whoohoo, a diagnosis. Bad alternator. Nearly $2k fix total. Whee.But it's spiking as high as 27+ volts, youch, that can't be good for the electronics in the car. Glad I brought it in right away.

Apparently some tech sat with the engine running and staring at a multimeter on the alternator for 30 minutes to get this result. I am both envious and glad I did not have to do that.

I created a protonmail account to see if the builder of my new house has any better luck getting and sending email to it... but I'm not sure this was the right choice.That said, beyond Gmail (where my primary email he's having problems with is hosted), what's actually "good" free/cheap webmail these days? Is Hotmail any good? Does Yahoo Mail still exist? I probably have like 16 accounts on each laying around too...

Also intermittently-working-email combined with a builder/contractor is possibly the most annoying thing in the world, because you never know if they're just being standard flighty or if emails are being missed somewhere along the way.

Getting an appointment for a new primary care physician, even with a recommendation for a clinic that was supposedly taking new patients, was about as bad as I thought it would be. Why is this system also so broken?I miss One Medical already. They make this so much better, though I am concerned that Amazon will destroy them like they did PillPack soon enough anyway. And I recognize the privilege of paying extra for sucking less.
