@foone If you make it to the first interview, ask them if they understand what an API actually is.

While speaking of Erin Carter on Netflix as non-political... I'm currently not able to watch any of the many TV shows that are US politics-centric... a diplomat on a mission for the President. The President fighting off terrorists single-handedly. The secret service uncovering a huge terrorist plot in the White House. Blablabla... None of it works at all right now. In reality, there was a plot. It wasn't even a secret. And it succeeded.

@tomjennings It's amazing how many current spy/thriller TV shows are somehow built around the idea of a highly efficient US government and agencies. Even just reading the description in the Netflix menu makes me sad and angry.

@tomjennings First I heard about it was when I saw a news article - apparently the Pentagon has been preparing press statements in case their spokespeople are being grilled by the press on how likely such a scenario would be.Which tells me that this is probably more likely than they would ever admit.

@mattblaze Thanks for sharing this - what a ridiculous mission. And the tragedy of sinking a self-warming plutonium device into a giant mountain glacier, especially now with global warming thawing out everything. That generator will certainly wash up below the glacier in the coming decades and the locals will be lucky if it is still contained.

@tomjennings Enjoy! It's a very different show that what I had been expecting, but it really grew on me. Also very thought provoking in places.

Python in 2026:- New code doesn't work, misses dependency- Dependency can't be installed with old PIP- PIP can't update itself, since it is too old- Delete PIP, download PIP installer- PIP installer is too new for old Python- download old-style new PIP installer- install new PIP- install dependencyNow I'm sitting there wondering what the new code was supposed to solve. Forgot why I ever tried to change that thing.

@tomjennings The versioning and dependency handling are fine for somebody who stays on top of the latest Python versions on a daily basis. But in my case I have this server that I VERY casually maintain on a yearly basis - things are always out of date when I touch that beast.
