@wogan We could spend years going through the ANC's litany of flaws but the fact remains that they are (1) the duly and democratically elected leaders of this country and (2) that Cape Independence functionally cannot and will not ever happen, nor would it be advantageous for it to happen.Living in a fantasy world is not an upgrade from a shitty real world, it's a distraction.

@kaasbaas i suppose that depends on how faster than FTL it is.you could also have some kind of hypothetical exponential speedup that takes non-instantaneous time to get to, and requires non-instantaneous slowdown, but effectively collapses the time inbetween to instantaneousi'd be interested to know if there is a scifi universe wherein short distances are impossible because if a craft reaches FTL speeds it becomes unable to slow down quickly enough to not overshoot the planet. so if i wanna go earth to andromeda, that's fine, but if i wanna go earth to pluto it's a real goddamn problem.
