trump supporters claiming his indictment is politically motivated want people to forget that he was a criminal and a rapist long before he got into politics. They chose to back and support him even though they knew he was a criminal and a rapist. This is all 100% on them.

He literally admitted to commiting sexual assault on women and 'getting away with it because he was a star' before he was president.People who chose to support him can go fuck themselves.

@strypey interesting article. It unfortunately doesn't cover the issue that many victims of abuse face which is the inability to deal with the fact that our societies are built and controlled by the very same type of personality of their abusers. "Yes, I am safe from being abused again but whether I ignore, tolerate or push back against that type of personality, they will go onto abuse others that will then suffer the same lifetime of pain and trauma I did." It also doesn't cover that the majority of our societies side with the abusive type because they don't see the signs they exhibit or what it means, so they defend or at least tolerate the abusers when those traumatized by the same type of personality speak out against them. "I've known that person for a long time and they seem much nicer than you". The victim is offered a choice between ignoring/tolerating abusers or being isolated from the vast majority of people who simply chose not to see the signs. This

We live in a joke of a world...People go to jail for decades for crimes that involve just a few dollars, but rich people can just toss a few pennies of the money they steal and connive out of others back at them, walk away and continue committing their crimes.

@zleap @fcktheworld587 @davidaugust @gilesgoat The working class was created out of the serf class to create buffer layers that protect their own and those above from those below. When the masses of poor rose up and demanded to be treated as equal beings, the elite gave some of them more money/wealth/power to shift the anger away from themselves, then flipped the narrative to one where the poor were stealing from the middle class. We've spent centuries struggling to shift more and more power and wealth away from the few so now that they have a way to start sucking all the wealth and power back while still being defended from the poor and getting the work they need done, they will pull out all the stops. Unless the masses once again actually rise against the few, we will be back to serfs and elites. And the elite will start eliminating as many poor as they can.

I remember a time when even the hint of criminal charges would cause politicians to retire. Now the right wing seems to embrace law breakers.

"This is Smaug, the dragon from The Hobbit. Smaug famously stole a mountain full of gold. So full that he sleeps buried under gold. We're talking literal tons and tons of gold by weight.Forbes ranks Smaug as the second wealthiest fictional character. He had been first, but the price of gold took a tumble and now his vast, overwhelming fortune is only worth an estimated $51,400,000,000.00, or $51.4 billion. That means that EVEN THOUGH he has an ENTIRE MOUNTAIN full of almost nothing but solid gold, Smaug would rank as the FIFTEENTH wealthiest American.Fourteen Americans have more money than a gold- hoarding dragon. Please consider that next time you say deca- billionaires deserve their wealth and shouldn't pay their employees living wages. You know what I find interesting about people? We have convinced ourselves that every civilization leaves 'footprints' of their existence. Stop and ask yourself what type of evidence would be left by a civilization that actually lived in harmony with nature. Then ask yourself what would be left as evidence of that civilization 1000 years after they were gone Humans have been here for 300,000 years or so. We started exhibiting signs of 'modernity' from 160,000 to 60,000 years ago. What would be left of a civilization that fell 20,000 years ago if they lived in harmony with nature?

I get the feeling some people are forgetting who Putin is...He is ex-KGB. He never stopped being one. He also never stopped considering the entire USSR as Russian by right. His intent since the fall of the USSR, is and always has been to reclaim all the territory that broke away AND to expand it into the largest empire Russia has ever controlled. Not because he cares about the people or the actual 'state', but because he wants to be remembered as the guy who did it.

@zleap Oh he won't accept defeat. At best, he could be convinced to retreat so he can try another day, and even that possibility grows smaller as he knows he's getting old and to the end of his life. Either he gets ousted/killed at home by his own, dies from illness/old age, is killed by the enemy, or he keeps trying to reclaim and expand territory .

New pinned post.If you like a thread I've posted, please feel free to like all the toots in the thread, but do NOT boost every toot in the thread. Pick one you think is the most attention grabbing and boost it.Otherwise you flood your followers with multiple boosts of the same thread. I literally will block people if my timeline is full of them boosting one single thread a dozen (or more) times.

@gerrymcgovern If we targetted duplicated data and companies that collect and store personal data they don't need besides for customer manipulation, how would that change these numbers?

@gerrymcgovern I totally understand your points, but seeing "we need to delete 90% of data" causes about the same reaction, for me, I have when I see people advocating for the burning of books. Mostly because I can see this being used to target 'uncomfortable info'.Just as a real world example, musk deleting information about the Arab Spring that was solely on twitter servers. "It's not my fault, server storage costs to the environment made it necessary."It's like a library saying they have to destroy 90% of their books with no regard to what that 90% is, allowing the wholesale destruction of knowledge under the guise of environmental protection.Im almost positive that isn't your intent, but I'm almost positive it would be used that way.

One of the biggest problems we face today is the fact that because almost anyone can have a voice (a good thing), many think it means they can speak on any subject, even those they don't understand.
