#Twitter just told me I was replying to two people but sent the reply to 12 people. (You get to see all 12 after you've hit send. While you're editing the reply, it says you're replying to two.)It's been like this for several days now. So now the #PeerTube instance I've been using has decided it's closing down to become a Mastodon instance dressed up to look like Twitter, and I have to move all my videos and amend every post that points to a video so it points to the new URL instead.Didn't get any email about this, just spotted a banner when I went to upload a file.Loving this #fediverse experience.(So not in the mood for this right now.... ffffffffffs.)

I can see average people getting really hacked off with the #fediverse if it remains the way it is. Right now folks are enthusiastic because it's new and they're desperate to get away from Musk. But when they've lost all their posts a few times because #Mastodon only migrates their social graph, or had to reupload all their videos because they used #PeerTube then the instance shut down, or the same with other apps, how many will stay and keep doing that every 3-6 months?

I keep thinking this #Twitter algorithm "reveal" has to be an #AprilFoolsDay joke... it wouldn't surprise me at all if Musk had decided to punk/troll his critics by putting out a fake recommendation algorithm with loads of juicy distortions in there, to see what people would be willing to take at face value if it confirmed their narrative, and — ultimately — to undermine and discredit those who, with good reason, are critical of his actions.But maybe I'm too incredulous. Let's see. 😅

Wonder how many #Mastodon users know when they set their account not to be indexed by search engines, that setting is ignored by other #Fediverse platforms.How is it acceptable that there's no joined up protocol or consensus to protect users' posts in this basic way, or even to communicate clearly on settings pages about what is and is not exposed to search engines?How come I can't share a post that can be found within the Fediverse (via hashtags) without it being made public outside of it?

Upgraded #Audacity, which trashed the interface, so finally got around to looking for some low-cost versions of #Adobe tools like #AdobeAudition and #PremierePro and/or alternatives.Ran across #DaVinciResolve, which apparently has a whole audio-editing suite built in. Is something up with #fdroid? Have been trying to install the Android fork of #syncthing for two days. The download is really slow, and it keeps stopping. I have to go back into f-droid to manually restart it, and it looks like last night it just gave up altogether.

Also, I don't think this is new but if I check the app info for #fdroid it says it was built for an older version of Android and can't be updated — except it also says its a two-month-old version so it has definitely updated itself.Is there somewhere else I'm supposed to be getting it from?

Here's where it gets interesting.Any post I sent last night that was visible to users on other instances remains there.I can't delete it, because I can't see it on my instance. Auto-delete won't delete it either, for the same reason.In terms of people's ability to control their data, this is a problem. It affects all #Mastodon users.It's also a problem Mastodon has known about since December 2022, when I sent them a suggested fix: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/22154Which they ignored, as usual.
