       @GhostOnTheHalfShell @Benfell @duckwhistle @Radical_EgoCom This is a structural problem: capitalism and state socialism are both "amoral hierarchies" in which anyone (with no "moral warrant" like aristocratic birth) can rise (at least nominally) to any position. Hierarchies are brutal, efficient, and robust. To replace them we need a better structure, which communes are not (average lifespan ~7 years).        I said a few weeks ago it was likely Canada was in our 11th covid wave. And I can now say we are. This is a conservative, lagging, analysis. The wave started a month or more ago. Cases are high and rising. In the middle of the hot dry days of summer, while "public health" does nothing. Of all the things I've written in the past few years I think I hate this one the most for what it says about humanity and the failure of expertise to protect us.        There's an idea that crime rates dropped after the phasing out of leaded gas due to improved cognition when kids were no longer being brain-damaged by lead. If this is correct, then we should expect a sharp rise in crime 10-15 years from now as children brain-damaged by covid enter their peak-crime years.

       @lowqualityfacts My prediction is the GOP will draft in Robert Kennedy after Turmp is convicted. This would be a major disaster, as Kennedy is much smarter than trump and at least as evil.
