@Michele @kathygriffin @jeffjarvis I disagree. An algorithm is not intrinsically bad. As long as we understand that it represents the interests of whoever paid to have it constructed. I think an algorithm with human values that simply wanted to enrich experience is perfectly possible. I haven't seen one, probably because nobody has ever had a financial incentive to construct it.Mastodon would be a good place to try to make one.

I see all these people encouraging each other to donate to their local #mastodon instance.Is it crazy to think these things should be run as small co-op style businesses where you pay <=$5/month and the people who do the work actually get paid?You'd need a biz structure that makes big-corporate roll-ups impossible. Which could be done I think?

@robpike That's weird. Last winter a lot of my legit emails (gmail) were going into spam but sometime between then & now something changed to the point I hardly ever even look in spam because gmail doesn't do false positives. And just a handful of false negatives. I wonder what's different between you & me? I'm on a Dasher account if that makes a difference.
