just parallelised a bash script and it was… surprisingly painlessI updated this script I use to convert my VRChat photos from PNGs into much smaller HEIF files (to my eye indistinguishable in quality), preserving their original creation date and time, to import into my photo librarythis update takes it from processing a set of 69 PNGs (nice) totalling about 650 MB in 19 seconds sequentially to 4½ in parallel on my machine!

I originally spent a bit of time trying to work out how to make GNU Parallel call a shell function, but I realised I could just… make the script call itself via GNU Parallel!plus it still works if you don't have parallel, it just does it the old waygoing to have to see what other batch operations I can upgrade like this… 🤔

@bjango nope, still just get the loading spinner indefinitely on the iOS app, the watchOS app gives up fairly quickly and reports zero for all observation fields (it’s definitely not that cold!)

does anyone in the Vancouver, BC area have need of one or two Cameron Sino-branded Fujifilm NP-100 equivalents?I ordered some batteries for my Ricoh and they're close but not the right ones (the battery door cannot be closed without modification of the battery or camera or both), and the cost of return shipping is probably going to make a return not really worth itlooks like they'd suit Fuji’s DS-260/DS-260HD, MX-600 series and MX-700 series, and possibly others but I can't be certain
