@foone @QuietMisdreavus I mean, there was literally no reason to write a four channel MOD player in Rust for my homebrew computer. I did it anyway. Most of my open source is “I wanted this to exist”, and for no other reason.

@futurebird I made one with an Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller on it. It plays MOD files off SD card now, and runs BBC BASIC (kind of).

Opening a new Rust RFC: the nsfw keyword Blocks and keywords can be marked as Not Safe For Work. Editors will blur the code by default. Indicates the code is not suitable for production, but you can enjoy it if you’re on your own time.

@wezm I’ve been using VSCode’s ssh support quite a bit lately, but that’s because I have an M1 Pro and I needed to hack on an x86-64 based RTOS that required VT-x. Rosetta just couldn’t cut it.

Went to the British Library. Looked at the actual Magna Carta from 1215. Some bibles from about 1100. One from the 4th Century. It’s free to get in. Highly recommended (also the Treasures exhibition is kept dimly lit and at about 18°C if that’s your sort of thing).

I did have to check my bag at the station though. Nothing bigger than a carry-on allowed in, and I had brought the BIG suitcase because it’s full of electronics.

@foone @neckspike @NanoRaptor did you break the battery door? I got a warranty replacement on the whole unit for that.

@ActionRetro bonus points for not just sticking a Raspberry Pi in/on it. But does it have an REU in the back?

@foone does the Raspberry Pi 400 count?Edit: no, it does not. Unless you can get a USB Device port out of it somehow.

@foone Aaaactually you might be able to get OTG out of the USB-C power port, using some sketchy Linux kernel drivers.

@binbows @whitequark I spent a long while living with Gentoo but that is a period of my life from which I was finally able to … emerge.

@foone I have definitely seen the opposite - a device with a USB Type-A port that only speaks PS/2.

@foone have you ever run Doom on a Gotek? You've got some buttons, and a small OLED screen ...

@foone how does a PS/2 mouse know a Serial adapter has been plugged in? Do they put a Serial signal into an otherwise unused pin?

https://github.com/eivindbohler/itxllamaA new ITX board for running DOS. It’s got a Crystal Audio sound blaster compatible audio chip, an RP2040 to do USB to PS/2 conversion, and an AGP slot. It’s very cool.
