@fsf I do sympathize with the FSF goal but honestly, I'm really really tired of the "terroristic" way to depict everything one doesn't like.Just point out facts, documents, links to documented events/facts if you have some unheard information and stop the mantra "they are bad we are good".Is like politics, rather than point how bad the "others " are,why don't just say what you want to do ?People will join if the feeling is mutual.Terroristic campaigns really start to irritate A LOT.Nothing better to say ?

@stux My 2 cents ... yes, remove the guns and mass shooting will fall drastically. But the obsession of the guns come from an incredible fear, fed by the media (nothing like fear make $$$). Until this irrational fear of everything is present in the american society, NOTHING will change. Is like trying to remove a soother from a newborn !

@stux well .. I know I will not be popular but, is not true that violence is never a solution. I agree with you, is NEVER OK but sometime is necessary and the only solution.About 80/90 years ago a world war become necessary to remove fascism and nazism. In the name of freedom we are allowing this cancer to regrow.Are we really willing to force next generations to do WWIII to extirpate again this cancer ?Is not we don't know how allowing fascism/nazism to prosper is going to end.How many people we'll allow to die because this cancer is growing again ?Violence is never OK but sometime become the only solution.You don't try to talk out a snake ready to bite you or any wild animal that choose you as dinner. You defend yourself and sometime the only solution is to eliminate the danger.

@stux Too many people are infected by the #moronavirus also in Europe, too many people in Europe see habanero hitler as a positive thing.I was in Italy last April and I met people adoring habanero hitler, they don't know NOTHING but see it as a positive thing (the "it" is not a mistake).The reality is that we should boycott Europe AND USA, too many people on both places suffers the same illness : incurable ignorance and stupidity.

@Gargron @harljo.uk IMHO talking about Generative AI I agree with you, but AI is also a good thing.It is a powerful, useful and in some cases necessary tool IF used properly.My opinion is that AI is great to deal with things, is a danger as you say when deal with people (the "generative" part).I think the problem is the word "intelligent" after the artificial part.AI is NOT intelligent, is a great tool to look for patterns and associations, but is not intelligent, it doesn't understand things.

@wonofone @Gargron @harljo.uk AI is way bigger and interesting than chatGPT.Big LLM are the ones who use an insane amount of energy for something IMHO useless. But AI is not only that, teach yourself about edge AI for example and how AI is used other than the stupid chatGPT and similar.AI for the masses is the problem, where too many use AI for "content", I hate that, content is for humans and should be created by humans.AI has many more useful things that can do.

@stux I feel exactly the same.I do love AI, is a very powerful tool for many things, especially the edge AI and in the embedded world but I feel that replacing "creativity" and human interaction is just plain wrong.

@futurebird First of all, amazing somebody still teach programming.40+ years experience in SW/FW developing here and the simple truth is that not everybody is cut to program computer.Is not only matter of knowledge, is matter about how a person think and is curious about the world and things working.Every single one person who interrupt and ask, will end up using google and AI to write a program.No personal ideas, no spending hours trying to understand the problem and the nature of errors.In my career I saw "new" generations of developers knowing less and less. Almost nobody of new generations knows what a computer is and how is working. It seems a useless information but is exactly what make you understand the errors.Errors exists all along the "chain", from your code to code you are using (compiler/OS/drivers/etc.) up to the electronic.Maybe the way you and others teach programming should change, making more like a mystery hour 🤔
