       @gayhobbes @Send_Lwyds I always read your handle as referencing the philosopher, because it's funnier that way, to me.

       Every system was put into place to solve a problem, and every system has flaws that create new problems. When more time/energy is being spent solving problems created by the flaws in the system than is spent addressing the problem the system was meant to solve, the system needs to be replaced. This holds true whether you are talking about SQL or capitalism.

       @decripter37 @ADUB Do you take all your politics from works of fiction?

       @prydt @decripter37 @ADUB I mean, I've read it, it's ok. I think people overestimate Orwell's significance as a political thinker.

       Sonic the Hedgehog's main antagonists in the narrative and the metatextual analysis are mustachioed industrialists, with Dr. Eggman as a scifi robber baron like Rockefeller, and Mario as an industrialized proletarian communist, with clear Stalin iconography.

       Eggman destroys the environment to create machines which turn natural resources into further machines, an obvious overproduction crisis, while Mario as a Stalin standin, perpetuates the same societal structures he seeks to stand against (symbolically: saving the princess)

       When Mario becomes more powerful, he does so by "growing", damaging him reduces his size, he is the industrializing society. Mario's score depends upon the collection of coins, perpetuating the capitalist economy.Sonic does not grow in size as he becomes more powerful, damage scatters his rings, which can be fully recollected to unify his power once more, a decentralized, anarchist model. Sonic's score depends upon speed, skilful navigation of a natural environment, and destruction of machines

       @lynnesbian Richard Stallman deliberately named his system something dumb as a joke about how dumb it sounded, and then got all mad when people didn't want to use his dumb name. Friggin' foresight, dude...

       Horrified as I sit here thinking about the sex strike and the phrase "sex scab" inserts itself unbidden into my brain.
