       @futurebird @mem_somerville I frequently inform my cats that they are, in fact, cats. I can't explain it, either. For some reason, the word "both" is important. As in, "both of you are cats."

       @futurebird @mem_somerville exactly. Why take a chance?

       @RnDanger @futurebird I've read that one can put butter on a new cat's paws to trigger the calming grooming behavior. I haven't tried it myself, though.

       @futurebird I feel this way when someone kills a spider or a snake.

       I made some rolags on my blending board, just a bunch of stuff I had small amounts of. There's some merino, mohair, peduncle silk, and some Wool of the Andes. It will be one of a kind, for better or worse. I think I'll call it Pennies. #handspinning #handmade #handcraft #wool #fiberarts

       @futurebird you could totally weave with it, although I don't think there will be enough to make anything significant unless you did stripes or something. I don't know yet what the texture is going to be like. I'm kind of a hit or miss spinner, never really know what I'm making until it's done sometimes.

       @catandgirl there was an old woman who swallowed a fly. I don't know why she swallowed the fly. I guess she'll die.

       I am so happy with this book. It offers blueprints for making several of the most popular styles of top-down sweaters, including raglan, set-in sleeve, saddle shoulder, and round yoke. You can design your sweater any way you want, any yarn, any gauge, any stitch pattern. The saddle shoulder I made with it is the best fitting one I've ever made. Now I'm making a second one. #knitting #handmade #fiberarts #books https://annbuddknits.com/books/knitters-handy-book-of-top-down-sweaters/

       @futurebird @JamesWidman have you seen any of the several videos Patrick Boyle did about the Line? https://youtu.be/qMIA-EHS7vM?si=6dZsSgLwhQx42D3A

       @futurebird I used to dabble in papermaking, and have observed the material behaves differently than we might expect based on our experience with other materials that are superficially similar. Once you scoop the fiber onto your screen, that's it. You can affect the surface by smoothing or whatever, but the underlying structure and direction of the fibers is what it is.

       @futurebird I've watched several of his videos, and I generally like him. He's very down to earth, and yet knowledgeable and compassionate towards the people he's cleaning for. He doesn't treat them like animals in a zoo the way Hoarders did. But yes, he does throw things straight to the bin, and he addresses the issue many times. He's just not able to do otherwise, and he explains why. (I don't remember the explanation, sorry, but it made sense to me.)

       @futurebird basically, I think it's because he's just one guy, with one little car and very limited resources. Sometimes things are filthy and unsafe. I really think he's doing the best he can.

       @futurebird yes. Also, I think he's often working miles from anything even remotely resembling a recycling center, so there is no feasible way to deliver it.

       @futurebird alas, I myself have several piles and boxes of stuff I am sure someone will want, but getting it out the door and into the hypothetical new owner's hands is a bit of a chore.

       @futurebird I can't remember the last time I watched anything on cable or broadcast. I think it would be intolerable with the babbling and the commercials.

       @futurebird I wish you had been my math teacher instead of the badly misnamed Ms. Paramour. I always thought I was just being too sensitive about the way she seemed to dislike me in particular, until another student asked me why she always picked on me. I still don't know, but I really checked out that year, and never checked back in. Rather a shame.

       @futurebird @thestrangelet let's all draw pictures of peace, kindness, justice, and food for everyone. We'll hang them up everywhere, and like magic, we'll find these things.

       @futurebird I like your voice. If you were narrating an audiobook, I would have no problem listening most of the time. (I have intermittent sensitivity and processing difficulties.)
