@appsInstalled Fedilab app and I am just blown away by the functionality it provides. For me this is now the best mastodon app iOS and android combined. I can follow timelines of other instances and some of my favorite instances from pixelfed and even twitter. Never imagined anything like this existed. If you consider yourself a power user then this app is highly recommended. Thanks for boosts and replies to my query. This is amazing community.

@CliffWade it was a tech weekend. Formatted the laptop and got the latest Qubes installed. I feel every format is a new beginning. This time installed Flatpak and Snap store. Lets see how it goes.

How do you fantasise your new gadget to be bought? If you imagine it to be the latest and greatest with hundreds and hundreds of ‘features’ then perhaps you have fallen prey to the big tech marketing. Even power users don’t use most of these so called features. You should think about your needs, how the new gadget would make a difference in your life and work flow and then make the purchase. There is no fun in buying a high end gadget and moulding yourself to it. It should be rather opposite.

@ogtechtodon what a coincidence! there was a time in my life when I too have ran behind the latest and the greatest and wasted a lot of money. Now my purchase plan is fixed. I buy a used Pixel phone either budget 'a' series or a 'non pro' version and use it with @GrapheneOS. Its peace of mind!

@ogtechtodon @GrapheneOS I can confirm this is a good plan. Both are good OSes but I would prefer @GrapheneOS. The web installer works amazingly and you can install it even from a phone. No need to have a computer. And with Sandboxed Google Play services can take advantage of the wonderful Google camera. I will also suggest you to setup user profiles and compartmentalize your apps.

@aijooyoom I don’t think there are many choices in that regard. Best option at present is to educate people and change their habits. Even if you give everyone the privacy respecting devices, what they do with those is what will matter in my opinion.
