Unfortunately due to my ESPP being drained by my very eccentric spending patterns, I have had to lay off the entire staff of Serious Business, International! For some reason I've had a couple recruiters hit me up for #infosec positions because I guess they're lookin for someone with Network Engineer experience. The position I did a phone screen for didn't go anywhere but it does have me curious so I wanted to throw this out there in the off chance I know someone looking for a Network Engineer to do Infosec work? My background is mostly network/system admin but I enjoy dabbling in security-related things like hashing and firewalls #getFediHired

Thinkin about a site where a user can upload non-text files, say a PDF file or some shit. How did web apps handle this before Cloud-based object storage (a la S3, etc)? Is it sane to store files in a DB? Just use a filesystem mounted locally? (idk why that last one feels dirty but I'm also not good at shit) #askFedi

Thunderbird on my desktop is showing me the date in day/month/year format. I understand this is more rational than the way we do it in the States but I would like to revert it back to freedom notation.I tried changing the settings available to me in the menus and they make no difference. I'm running the same distro/versions of everything on all my computers and this is the only one doing this. I deleted the entire Thunderbird profile and copied it from one of the correctly formatted computers, same result.What the frick??

@sabreW4K3 You are correct. I had set my system locale to something like `en_GB.UTF-8` which fixed my system time to be 24 hour instead of AM/PM. Unsetting that fixes Thunderbird but now my system is back to AM/PM. Two takeaways:1. The Thunderbird setting to use an application-specific locale doesn't work2. I _really_ fucking hate computers

Since moving to #NetBSD I've noticed quite a few blocks and unfollows. I get the unfollows but blocks from folk that don't follow me and I don't follow them is strange.
