@patrickworld You're not wrong, but just because others were more exploited than Taylor Swift, it doesn't mean she wasn't also being exploited. I'm all for freeing Taylor (and Ke$ha, and Britney) *along with* Chuck and Little Richard and all the rest.We tend to discount the problems of successful artists because they're rich and famous (by our standards) even though the vast majority of the fruits of their labours have still been sucked away by middlemen.

@patrickworld Absolutely true. And they were often too poor to be able to say no. It came down to either sell this song for a pittance or get evicted. Also, racism.(I strongly suspect that one of the big reasons Dolly Parton had such a long career was because her husband owned a paving company, so she could turn down bad deals and still pay the bills.)

@patrickworld (Taylor Swift has the advantage of having *extremely* business-literate parents and she *still* lost here back catalogue to some asshole with too much money.)

@futurebird The thing she touches on, that once you reach something that's obviously wrong, you can just stop reading, has served me *so* *well*. It's a relief to read about a thing a come to a statement that's so wrong that you can just stop reading.

@futurebird I used to work at a bank in downtown Toronto, and I still remember the woman I saw in typical business attire (skirt, dress shoes) and a punk band T-shirt. I was extremely impressed.

@foone Would it be possible to break the items into batches to process sequentially on a node? That would increase processing time a bit but amortize the overhead across more items.

@foone Based on my own experience, game automation has such terrible software hygiene because once you get it baseline working, you go back to playing the game and forget about it.

@futurebird As a developer and hobby programmer, I cannot comprehend how someone who enjoys programming would like vibe coding.AI automates away the fun, creative parts of the work, badly. And the parts that you still have to do--the unpleasant stuff--is even less pleasant now because of that.

@futurebird People should not be ashamed of being scammed. Grifters' tricks are designed to bypass your critical thinking skills, and they can get you no matter how smart you are.

@futurebird The most efficient way to do this is to have a centralized organization to do this. This shares the costs of IT across every school that needs it. A school would contract them out to set up an instance and provide mod privileges to the teachers willing to do this. The org could also do other cloud services (email, wiki, owncloud, etc) as an alternative to MS or Google. And then, SV capital could buy the org and sell students' data to advertisers

@futurebird I'm assuming it's pro-bono work based on the client's circumstances and her adowwwable widdle face.
