Thanks @ChrisWere! You're my first follower. I'm a Linux tinkerer and hobbyist. I have followed you on youtube for awhile, and have enjoyed your content there. My latest goto guy is @alecaddd. I have completed two of his tutorial series on WordPress, and have applied the knowledge gained there to improve my own WordPress blog.Anyhow, this is my first day on Mastodon, and already I am finding that I might should have joined a smaller instance than mastodon.social. Any thoughts on that? 🤔

Here's my first halting #introduction. I'm an old guy who's merely dabbled with computers and the Internet since the early nineties. I don't have any degrees or certs. I only have a superficial understanding of the most basic topics related to computer science. I consider myself a novice with modest aspirations. My interests include website development, social media, helpful politics, music as a means to personal and societal fulfillment, and understanding my own mind.

Idle thoughts: Big tech isn't going away willingly. I see a fair amount of talk about doing it harm, either legally or illegally. Wouldn't it be good to advocate for more government oversight, ie, sensible legislation. And at the same time push for small-scale solutions, such as those being talked about on forums like this. Can't these two approaches coexist? Different strokes for different folks.#Google #Facebook #Amazon #Capitalism #Socialism #SocialMedia

People blithely go about their day not knowing what they don't know. I don't know what I don't know. And the amount of what I don't know keeps getting bigger by degrees of magnitude that... I don't know. #information #knowledge #skills #education #overwhelmed
